If you’re a regular viewer of Late Night with Seth Meyers (and really, you should be—it’s the best late night show on television), you may be aware that host Seth Meyers is a massive Game of Thrones fan. As a reader of George R.R. Martin’s books, he delights in pressing cast members of the show for information on upcoming episodes or diving deep into Game of Thrones nerdery, so when actress Carice van Houten—who plays the deadly Melisandre—was on the show last night, we were prepared for some Game of Thrones talk during the interview. What we weren’t prepared for, however, was a new sketch involving Melisandre, with van Houten proving to be quite the comedic talent.

In the vein of Meyers’ previous Jon Snow sketch, this one posits that Melisandre and Meyers are old friends from college, and imagines what might happen if the Game of Thrones character attended Meyers’ baby shower. It goes just about as well as one might expect, with plenty of jokes to be made about Melisandre’s iconic “The night is dark and full of terrors” line. But it’s delightful to see van Houten so game to play along, and the tone of her performance here is kind of perfect. And yes, there is mention of Jon Snow’s fate.

So take a look at the sketch below, followed by Meyers’ full interview with van Houten in which they discuss the particulars of shooting Melisandre’s iconic birthing scene. And if you missed the Jon Snow sketch from early in Meyers' run, I've embedded that below to help ease the wait for the show's new season.
