As if the opening credits for HBO’s spectacular fantasy series Game of Thrones weren’t cool enough, some dedicated fan has crafted an awesome metal version of the show’s opening theme and it’s now been set over the actual credits themselves. The result is an epic rock opening to a series that could only be made better by the presence of electric guitar running through its core. Of course, there’s not much to complain about when it comes to Game of Thrones (especially since they’ve already got a second season ordered), so this is just icing on an already tasty cake. Check out the killer metal Game of Thrones theme after the jump.

After seeing the show I immediately got the box set of the books, and if you like the show definitely check out the books, both are excellent.
I did the exact same thing this morning. Bought the box set from Amazon. Did you read them all already?
Half way through the first book.
Now stay off the web until you finish the books, at least any part that mentions GoT. You do not want to see spoilers.
In case anyone was wondering…this is the reason cover songs exist. I wish this was the actual theme song for the show.
It’s an excellent cover but I disagree about wishing it to be the actual theme song. The electric guitar undertones obviously don’t fit within the era of the show. Still amazing though.
That’s some mighty fine work! They should use that for Season 2.
That’s about as metal as Dream Theater on a ton of Xanax
I already like the theme song…this version just makes me love it. Great cover to an incredible show.
