The first full trailer for the upcoming third season of HBO’s wildly popular drama series Game of Thrones will premiere tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live, but a tantalizing new poster for season three has been unveiled in advance of the trailer drop. One assumes this is the official poster for season three (the first one only had a date, so it’s technically a teaser poster), and if so then this teases some major developments for Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen aka “Mother of Dragons” in the coming season. It appears that we may or may not see some maturation from Targaryen’s tiny dragons, as the poster shows one of them in flight. I haven’t read the books so I don’t know how soon said dragons start becoming monstrous creatures, but season three of the series is poised to cover approximately the first half of the third book in George R.R. Martin’s series, A Storm of Swords.
Hit the jump to get a look at the poster, and check back here on Collider tonight to see the first full trailer for season three. Game of Thrones returns on March 31st on HBO.
Here’s the teaser trailer for the trailer, followed by the new poster:

SPOILERS BELOW!
Do not read Stinky’s post if you haven’t read all the books.
The dragons don’t get huge (rideable?) until book 5.
One of the little guys does do some damage in book 3, if memory serves. But they’re still chillin’ on her shoulder.
Spoiler alert! asshole!
Wooooow really ? What a dick…
Hahahaha. I hate spoilers as much as the next man, but I had to laugh at how nonchalant that spoiler was.
Was interested to read on twitter that Pixomondo who produced all the VFX shots of season 2 closed its London office this morning.
Will have a major knock on effect coming after just winning the ‘Outstanding Compositing in a Broadcast Program’ award at the VES Awards earlier this month…
I wonder if Frosty & team might want to start asking a few questions?
…book 3 was the last good one…after that it just goes on…and on…and on…until you could scream.
