A new full-length trailer for season two of HBO’s extraordinary fantasy series Game of Thrones has gone online. As opposed to the earlier teasers that provided little by way of new footage, this nearly two-minute trailer features a bevy of peeks at what’s to come. As if I wasn’t excited enough for the show to come back, teases of the brewing war over the throne, dragons, and Dinklage have me hankering for April 1st to get here sooner.
Hit the jump to watch the new trailer. If you missed any of our previous Game of Thrones coverage, be sure to check out series production videos, character posters, and an image gallery. Season two of Game of Thrones begins Sunday, April 1st on HBO.
For the uninitiated, here’s the official synopsis for Game of Thrones:
Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun.
It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lust and intrigues; to the vast and savage eastern lands; all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men…all will play the Game of Thrones.

This will be watched.
It is known.
…by your mom.
Dragons. Dragons burning cities to the ground.
Like with season one, I’m waiting for it to come to some medium that doesn’t raise my cable bill any higher than it already is.
The dragons won’t be burning any cities to the ground anytime in the near future.
A few spoilers there.
Some of the quick frames reminded of fantastic scenes. Melisandre doing her thing, Tyrion holding up the wildfire, Jaime meeting Grey Wind…
I’ve read the books, and if I’m not mistaken, a few scenes are playing out earlier than they should. Was that Robb hooking up with what’s her name?
It’s probably a good idea to accelerate a few storylines. Book Three, A Storm of Swords, is packed. You could split that into two seasons.
April 1st cannot get here soon enough.
Any word of when Winds of Winter comes out?
