We're less than a month away from the big day, everyone! With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters, and Captain America: Civil War not hitting theaters until May, the next big premiere in the realm of obsessive pop culture will be Game of Thrones Season 6, which is set to bow on HBO on April 24th. Sure, there's a heck of a difference between the box office of a major movie premiere and the season premiere of Game of Thrones, but for many fans, the latest chapter in HBO's adaptation of George R.R. Martin's series of fantasy novels is an even bigger deal than whatever DC and Marvel are serving up this month or next.

So, even though the latest short promotional trailer for the new season is largely steeped in imagery that we saw in the last trailer for Game of Thrones, which teased further fights and encounters with the Whitewalkers, any small amount of new scenes and images is enough to make it worth giving a look. The teaser begins with Peter Dinklage's MVP warning someone that they should be scared of being in "the great game," which one can only assumer refers to the titular bloody sport.  Following the, er, controversial turns of the last season, I'm hoping this next season will find more focus on the details of allegiances and the more nuanced issues of being a ruler, but there's every reason to believe that the series will continue to stress blood, guts, and all things terrible and painful. It might be thin as compared to the more substantive storylines of Season 3 and 4, but if nothing else, Game of Thrones has a way of making the most irksome happenings into thrilling sequences of bravery and betrayal. We'll see how all of this will unspool come April 24th.
