After plenty of teases and few brief glances at your favorite Westorosis in action, HBO has released the first Game of Thrones Season 6 trailer following its debut ahead of the Vinyl series premiere. As the first season in which showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have surpassed the narrative George R.R. Martin's books, fans are perhaps more eager than ever to catch a glimpse at the upcoming season for any hint at what happens next. And of course there's that whole Jon Snow thing. But those looking for any of that in this trailer will be disappointed, as this is still very much a tease—a mood-setter, if you will—to start introducing this season in earnest.

It's actually a gorgeously constructed teaser, as it uses the "Hall of Faces" that was introduced last season to parade the many, many victims of the show in front of us. Seriously, has any show in recent memory been so bold with its character deaths as Game of Thrones? The show continues the is he/isn't he Jon Snow of it all by saving his face for last, but it's the final shot that really conveys the danger these characters are all in. Indeed, on Game of Thrones, no one is safe.

This is the first of no doubt many more trailers for the new season, so rest assured you won't have to wait long for your first glimpse at the characters in action. For now, after watching the Season 6 teaser trailer below, check out over 20 images from the new season right here. Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24th airing just before the season premieres of Silicon Valley and Veep.
