Ever since the finale of Game of Thrones Season 5, HBO has really taken trolling fans to a new level. First and foremost there's been the Jon Snow: Dead or Alive? controversy that's caused us to follow the status of Kit Harington's man bun during the show's offseason, for God's sake. To add fuel to that fire, HBO the released the season's first poster (seen below), which featured a Jon Snow of uncertain life status. As our own Dave Trumbore commented, "we may need a coroner to declare it."

Things are not getting any better with the show's first teaser, which not only features a lot of Jon Snow (while revealing nothing), but also delights in our pain and uncertainty by not only using Bran's (Isaac Hempstead Wright) line "they have no idea what's coming next," but also by showing a supercut of all of the show's major deaths. (As well as Jamie losing his hand, just to add insult to literal injury). The indignity! See it for yourselves below:

So, let's see what we can extrapolate from this. Bran warging at the end could be a clue about Jon Snow's fate, or at least, where his spirit might reside in the interim between life, death, and life again. We already know that Bran is probably going to be logging in as the admin of Weirwood.net next season, and so we'll be getting some flashbacks as well as, presumably, some warg action. Will that connect to Jon? Maybe this roll call of deaths and Starks portends other Starks returning from the grave? Lady Stoneheart, mayhaps? Or the body of Robb with the head of Grey Wind?

Bran and HBO are right, we (book readers and show watchers alike) don't know what's coming next. And that is a wonderful and terrifying thing.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in April.
