If you’ve been watching Game of Thrones Season 8, you’ve probably noticed that Winterfell looks a little… different. No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. The show’s production team actually remodeled, rebuilt, and expanded the iconic location for the series’ final season, and a new 20-minute behind-the-scenes video shows just how they pulled it off.

In the second episode of “The Game Revealed”—a behind-the-scenes series that takes a deep dive into each Game of Thrones episode—fans get a look at how the Winterfell set was reworked. Going into Season 8, the show’s production team knew a large amount of time would be spent at Winterfell with a very large number of characters. To prevent the location from feeling too same-y, they set about expanding the set, creating new corridors and outdoor locations as well as other perches on which to set scenes—like atop the wall, where Arya chatted briefly with The Hound in last night’s episode.

This extensive behind-the-scenes video isn’t only about Winterfell. Digging into Season 8 Episode 2, there’s also a wonderful behind-the-scenes look at the shooting of the fireplace scene and subsequent knighting of Brienne of Tarth, with insight from the actors involved and director David Nutter. If you’re a fan of the series and not ready for it to end, it’s well worth checking out.
