Here’s the synopsis from the upcoming second season of Game of Thrones:

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun.

It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lust and intrigues; to the vast and savage eastern lands; all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men…all will play the Game of Thrones.

As I watched through the last episode, I was stunned at the end when the series reveals itself as a fantasy genre. I am not familiar with the source material. I watch the series because it is HBO, I am a minor fan of Sean Bean, and the opening episode with that snowy high wall sequence is stunning. There will be Dragons, folks. I can’t wait for April…

I can relate: I never read fantasy and was unfamiliar with “The Song of Ice and Fire series that the GOT came from…but I am a diehard fan now! Oh, and I am a MAJOR Sean Bean fan, which definitely added to my enjoyment! Cheers!

Well, I thought it was a medieval version of THE SOPRANOS. Politics, family, and the Family

You have no idea what is coming…i just finished the fifth book…this series has academy awards in its future…

    • echoegami

Agreed and agreed. And if HBO knows what’s good for them they’ll keep the series going until the end.

While it’s completely feasible that GoT (Known as A Song of Ice and Fire saga) will earn academy awards and a ton of acclaim, most of the credit really goes to George R.R. Martin. The show is complex and wonderfully orchestrated, but anyone who has read the books will realize HBO did not have to do much work to create such a compelling story-line. Every other HBO show has multiple writers and entire teams behind the creation and story of the show, but in this case HBO basically just copies word for word from Martin’s books. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, mind you, but anyone who has not read the books and enjoys the show is really missing a treat.

Emmys – It will win Emmys not Academy Awards because Academy Awards are for movies. Emmys are for TV. And yes it will definitely win many Emmys before it ends.

  • …!

the books are so great… like the series is too

  • Tyrell

You should start reading Martin books 1st, then watch the TV Show…

Normally I would agree because the books are always better…but in this case (and in The Lord of the Rings trilogy) the movie was better for me first because of the myriad characters and names to remember…it was easier for me once I had them in my mind already. Also, the movies set a brilliant and important atmosphere at the onset that the books don’t really offer (right from the start, that is). Maybe that’s just me though. :) Cheers!

I just finished the second book in which this next season is based upon, and I have to say that, from reading the books, especially A clash of kings, it so far looks as if like the second season is going to be very much alike/correct/true to the book itself, apaprt from some characters, I had expected Stannis and Melisandre too have a totally different look than what we have seen of them yet, Melisandre I think is a very mysterious and intriguing character which I hope to see develop thoughrout the books. And Tyrion, he’s going to be epic this season, if they stick closely to the book. I’m just so excited to see everything I’ve read about in the book, if it’s going to be as I pictured it in my mind. I hope they get the scens with Bran quite right as well. And I agree with darth obama here, although I, as said just have read the two first I just can imagine what epic and dramatic the storylines and destinies of this persons will be. I hope they will make tv-series out of all five books. “FIRE AND BLOOD” <3 Valar morghulis.

I fell in love with the show while visiting my brother who has thousands of movies and shows on his collections so he gave me season 1 in blu-ray. I watched them all over and over again. I was intrigued so I bought the complete series of books, all 5 of them and finished them all in one week. My husband thought I was crazy. I loved the show, it’s awesome !! I keep telling everyone to watch it and Sean Bean is my favourite. I can’t wait for the next esp. I’m looking forward for Arya’s excellent but dangerous adventure. Keep up the good works, guy !!!!!

Third book will be hard to put on TV. It is bigger, so many new worlds, so many things happening. Red Wedding must take one entire episode (hate the bloody Freys). But it went too far now for HBO not to continue…
