It may be 26 years since Drs. Venkman, Stantz, and Spengler defeated ghosts at the New York Public Library but apparently the library still has issues with unwanted spectres. Improv Everywhere decided to liven things up a bit by bringing a little random ghostbusting at the institution of learning. No books were thrown around, but most people there got a little thrill to their day. Also, if you’re wondering how they pulled this off without getting kicked out, the library invited them to cheer people up in face of budget cuts. Look for the people who aren’t clapping at the end or who don’t even look up from their computers. Those people are probably not a lot of fun at parties.

I was looking forward to something hilarious. This was horrible. So much potential utterly wasted.
Fun gag and a nice reference to some NY Library history..but what's the deal with the cheesy synth music that was almost-but-not-quite the “Ghostbusters” theme ? Were there copyright issues here or what?

Let what go? The Ghostbusters or the NYPL? In both instances though it shows a lot about your character.

I thought this was pretty well done for a public gag.
And the music, well, you usually have to change it around to prevent rights-issues indeed.
They might have been able to just use the original soundtrack, as they sometimes do.
Only… I guess it's better to be on the safe side.
But yeah, to give it kind of an alternative or silly twist is quite appropriate too.
As this isn't meant to be seriously just like the movies or anything.
