Check Out 18 Character Images and Bios from David Fincher’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

     August 10, 2011

Perhaps sensing that I have neither read the book or watched the original, Sony Pictures has released 18 character images and biographies to help myself and those like me get acquainted with David Fincher’s upcoming adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Starring Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgård, Robin Wright, and Joley Richardson, the pic centers on Lisbeth Salander’s (Mara) investigation into the Vanger family alongside journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Craig).

Check out each of the character images and biographies after the jump. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo hits theaters later this year on December 21st.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first film in Columbia Pictures’ three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s literary blockbuster The Millennium Trilogy. Directed by David Fincher and starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, the film is based on the first novel in the trilogy, which altogether have sold 50 million copies in 46 countries and become a worldwide phenomenon. The screenplay is by Steven Zaillian.

Here are the character bio images courtesy of the film’s official website:

It’s scary / fascinating to go back and forth between the two pictures of Rooney Mara that are up on the main page right now.

  • Jim

This looks like a really scary dating website.

Seriously, between this and the trailer, I’m not feeling it.

I like Finchers films, but this doesn’t intrigue me a bit.

Sony has their work cut-out for them.

One thing to say about these photos: the release of the film is getting closer and closer. :)

What??? These are just bio’s of the characters, they have nothing to do with the film other than give people who are unfamiliar with the books/movies information about the plethora of characters that are in the stories. As a reader of the books and a devoted fan of Fincher, I can assure you, with the look of the trailer and the story he’s tackling with this film, this will be another Fincher classic. I was euphoric when I first heard of Fincher taking this franchise on, they are a perfect fit together. You’ll love it if you loved Fincher’s other films.

What?? No, these are just informational tidbits to give people unfamiliar with the books/movies info on the plethora of characters in the story. Trust me, as a reader of the books and a devoted fan of Fincher, I can assure you that this is perfect for Fincher. I was euphoric when I first heard that Fincher was going to be tackling this franchise because this is actually the perfect story for him. And after having seen the trailer, heard the short clip of the score from Trent Reznor, I’m certain that this will be an amazing film and another classic from Fincher and if you are a fan of his previous works, then I’m sure that you will love this film as well.

  • Kori

Great stuff. Even better when you read them on the main website, which sounds like it has a Trent Reznor track from the movie playing! Sounds fantastically moody and very Reznor. Absolutely can not wait for this film. I love Fincher.

wow… based from what i remember, some of these characters don’t even appear in the Swedish(i refuse to call it original since this isn’t really a remake) film… HELL YEAH! and the much buzz straying away from the novel(and probably from the Swedish film) for the final minutes of the film, i’m all for it!.

make the naysayers silent FINCHER! i know you did it on The Social Network. how can a movie about facebook be ATLEAST good? well he didn’t just gave us a good film, he gave us his masterpiece!. definitely will have “godfather” like status someday.

Does Lizbeth have an evil twin sister, then? ;-)

what a waste of time and talent. Fincher would ve been better off concentrating on something more substantial….

That is one fine picture of Daniel Craig, I’ll tell yah that… =p

Eh, it may not be a “remake,” but just like the Let the Right One In “non-remake” it looks as though many shot are identical in composition to the originals. If it ain’t broke, don’t rema— I mean “fix it.”

  • Wladi

Jesus…they really did a good job transfoming a cute beautiful girl like Rooney Mara in that gross thing….

    • TuffsNotEnuff

“That gross thing” is a saint.

Jean D’Arc, redux. Arrow through leg. Raped repeatedly. Burning.

Revenge is how Lisbeth escapes her soul. Temporarily. Seems more Ireland than Sweden. This is the hardest movie role in years.

Patricia Rooney Mara brings the quicksilver. This is what you get now, after “Boys Don’t Cry” and “…Baby” show losing it into a character. Rapace did the black throughout, not like this.

Sadly, PRM will lose the Oscar to a competent impersonation of Maggie Thatcher.

    • Pyrodude

Think Nemesis. Maybe next time an Oscar.
