girls-season-3-slice

The first teaser trailer for Girls season 5 has arrived via HBO, and Hannah Horvath is ready to tackle a new chapter of her life — which, apparently, includes hip-hop dance classes. For everyone who has ever criticized Lena Dunham for shamelessly flaunting her non-stick-thin feminine curves, this one’s for you.

Though the footage is a mere 25 seconds in length, the actress makes a return to form as her snarky, self-centered, often unbearable, always entertaining character. As she attempts to “dance like no one is watching,” she’s surrounded by a class filled with older women, including her mom. This teaser hints at Loreen’s new lease on life, as well.

Be warned of spoilers from the last season of Girls, but fans will know that Hannah’s dad Tad came out of the closet, thrusting her mom into a bit of an emotional breakdown. She was still not on good terms with her husband during the season finale, but she seems to be in much better spirits. After all, we learned from Legally Blonde that “exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.”

Accompanying the teaser is a new photo of Hannah in season 5 (seen below), with the character sporting a flowery top and much shorter haircut.

While an official plot synopsis has yet to be released, HBO will return Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, Alex Karpovsky, Andrew Rannells, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Jake Lacy. When last we saw these characters, Marnie and Desi got engaged, Ray was elected to City Council, Shosh accepted a job in Japan, and a forward time jump saw Hannah dating Fran. Of course, happiness is short-lived when it comes to this crowd.

Girls season 5 will debut on Sunday, February 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
