Production is currently underway on director Gareth Edwards’ reboot of Godzilla, and a new behind-the-scenes image has been unveiled by Legendary. While we previously got a look at the crew shooting inside an airport, this image is quite a bit more exciting as we get to survey some of the damage done by the titular creature. Needless to say, it doesn’t look like Godzilla is exactly tiptoeing across the country. At Comic-Con last year, I got a look at the test reel that Edwards shot to showcase his vision for the film, and if the finished movie is anything like that, then there is going to be a massive amount of destruction. The design for the creature—at least in that test reel—is absolutely huge.
Hit the jump to check out the new image. The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Bryan Crantson, Sally Hawkins, and Ken Watanabe. Godzilla opens in 3D on May 16, 2014.
