It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything new from David Fincher’s adaptation of the Gillian Flynn Best Seller, Gone Girl.  In fact, I’d almost forgotten the movie was on the way until I caught a trailer before a screening of Deliver Us From Evil the other night.  However, that’s changing fast because we’ve got a brand new trailer for the October 3rd release set to arrive on Monday, July 7th and this time around, 20th Century Fox is giving us not one, but four teaser images to go along with it.

Running with a more immersive marketing method, the campaign is dishing out four “evidence bags,” all with items pertaining to Amy Dunne’s (Rosamund Pike) disappearance.  So far we’ve got one with a photo from Nick (Ben Affleck) and Amy’s wedding in it, one with a seemingly burnt note dated July 5, 2012 that reads, “This man may kill me,” and another with a little lingerie tucked inside it.  The fourth image has yet to surface, but you can check out the first three Gone Girl teaser posters after the jump.  Don’t forget to come back on Monday to watch the new trailer. [Update: We've added the fourth and final poster to the article.]

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

Directed by David Fincher and based upon the global bestseller by Gillian Flynn – unearths the secrets at the heart of a modern marriage. On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

The book actually had me turning the pages over and over… I just couldn’t stop! And the THAT ending… Can’t wait for this movie!

I haven’t read the novel, but apparently Fincher and the gang changed the complete third act, including the ending. Nevertheless, I still expect shocking Fincher-style twist at the end.

The novel’s author wrote the script herself. I also never read it, but I’ve seen some people complain about the ending. Seems like one of those love it or hate it endings. The reactions to the movie are probably going to be interesting.

Well yeah, I agree with that… I actually kinda liked the ending but I see people hating it.

Thank God they changed the third act, it’s easily the weakest part of the novel. And it’s completely non cinematic.

Amen to that, the ending is awful and a lazy cop out. No way they could have kept it for the film. And the big twist is smack in the middle, it will be interesting to see how they adapt it since much of the book is in the form of her diary and won’t be easy to translate to a film.

Yeah so far it doesn’t look like the film will get into too much of her side of the story, but we’ll see. Everything looks good so far.

Actually, the Fincher-style twist comes halfway through the book! It’s a really WTF moment! The ending, as Totes said, is pretty divisive but ride is unforgettable.

Looking forward to this sequel to Gone Baby Gone.

It’s gonna be incredible in 2018 when “Grandma’s Gone” wraps up the trilogy.

I love the Gone Person franchise!

    • DEADP00L

Noooo the sequel is Gone Mama THEN Grandma’s Gone.

And then soon ‘Goned’ where Liam Neeson finally steps in to stop the gone’ing of all these people
