Just yesterday we brought you the good news that A Good Day to Die Hard would be rated R. Today, a new TV spot for the John Moore film, the fifth in the Die Hard series, confirms that rating. The commercial doesn’t show much in the way of new footage, especially if you’ve already seen the previously released TV spots, but there is, of course, a new one-liner.
Starring Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, A Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14th. Hit the jump to watch the new TV spot.

Official synopsis:
Iconoclastic, take-no-prisoners cop John McClane, for the first time, finds himself on foreign soil after traveling to Moscow to help his wayward son Jack–unaware that Jack is really a highly-trained CIA operative out to stop a nuclear weapons heist. With the Russian underworld in pursuit, and battling a countdown to war, the two McClanes discover that their opposing methods make them unstoppable heroes.

Can someone confirm if they’re gonna use the 1.85:1 aspect ration for the final film? It’s just that obsessive-compulsive me wants to keep the 2.35:1 aspect ratio that all other Die Hard films have.
Or maybe it’s the IMAX effect?
It’ll be 2.35:1 although I get your concern. It hasn’t been shot in imax nor has it been converted.
That’s comforting to hear. This will be useless as shit to see in IMAX, though.
Guys,
John Moore here : I can confirm we shot the movie in 1:1.85. The reason for this is two fold: a lot of the movie is very energetic hand-held, so I felt the narrower 2:35 would feel too see-saw. Sorry if that disappoints, but it does help the 2nd reason: the IMAX which looks great and at 28 foot lamberts, looks bright and sharp. Enjoy.
I wonder if Mary Elizabeth will come in at the last minute and save both of their asses? Probably won’t be on screen for more than a couple of minutes in a cameo.
1.85: 1 is for amateurs. No self respecting film director should use it anymore.
Nothing wrong with 1.85:1. I myself prefer a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. However, seeing that it is going to be in IMAX theatres as well, it would be cool for this film to adopt a 1.85:1 aspect ratio for IMAX showings. (the closest one to me being a full authentic 70MM theater) Otherwise, I see little point in seeing it on that screen (black bars).
I personally am looking to shoot all of my films in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, preferably without having to crop out anything.
