If it's one thing that Gotham has taken great relish in, its introducing major characters from the DC Batman comics into the world of a young Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and teasing their future roles in the life of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz). This has been the case especially when it comes to villains, to a point that the show has been (rightly) criticized for laying on the whole foreshadowing nonsense a bit thick. This was certainly the case with multiple teases of The Joker, but also in the case of Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) and Harvey Dent (Nicholas D'Agosto), who have become more stomachable characters in the show's second season.

And soon enough, another villain will be pulled into the fold, namely Victor Fries, the man who will become the bitter Mr. Freeze, the man who must encase himself in a special suit to keep himself alive and who has perfected the ability to freeze any random thing, including people. The character will be played Nathan Darrow, which many of you will know more familiarly as Ed Meechum, the loyal bodyguard of the Underwoods on the American version of House of Cards. He's a great pick for the role of the scientifically minded, distanced inventor of the hyper-cooling technology, and its nice to see him getting some work outside of what was a weak third season of the otherwise superb Netflix series.

We also have our first look at Darrow as Fries, which you can check out below, along with a shot of his freeze gun, which nearly ends Batman on a number of occasions. We'll have to see how the show handles the wrenching origin of Mr. Freeze, considering how they've dragged out and dulled-down a variety of other origins story, but I'm pulling for Darrow to really find the fury that frosts over into detached vengeance. If his work on House of Cards is any sign, it won't be all that hard.
