Fear not, Gotham fans — the crime fighting will not stop with the show’s upcoming Season 2 finale. Fox has announced today that it has renewed its DC television series for a third season, which adds Gotham to a bevy of other DC series recently renewed, including Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow on the CW (Supergirl doesn’t have an official renewal yet, but CBS boss Les Moonves has strongly hinted at it).
In a press release for the announcement, Fox also included a synopsis of the show’s upcoming episode,
In the all-new episode “Wrath of the Villains: Mad Grey Dawn,” airing Monday, March 21 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX, Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bullock (Donal Logue) investigate a trail of clues left in a museum robbery, which, unbeknownst to them, were left by Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse. Meanwhile, Gordon’s past comes back to haunt him when an anonymous person threatens to expose his hand in Galavan’s murder. Also, Penguin’s (Robin Lord Taylor) visit to some old friends leads him to meet his father, Elijah Van Dahl (guest star Paul Reubens), and Bruce (David Mazouz) practices his street smarts.
As well as a tease for what viewers can expect for the rest of the season:
Later this season, villains continue to invade GOTHAM, as Arkham Asylum and the mysteries it holds take center stage, and Hugo Strange’s (guest star BD Wong) wild experiments create even more chaos and legendary villains.
I’ve been skeptical of Gotham and its entry into the world of DC TV (which the CW handles so well), but it actually seems to have turned a corner recently with the inclusion of BD Wong‘s Hugo Strange. But tell me, loyal Gotham viewers, how are you feeling about the show lately? And does the renewal keep you interested, knowing that there will be even more story to come?
