Gracepoint

10-episode mystery event series GRACEPOINT, starring Welsh BAFTA winner David Tennant (“Dr. Who”), Emmy Award winner Anna Gunn (“Breaking Bad”), Academy Award nominee Jacki Weaver (“Silver Linings Playbook”), Academy Award nominee Nick Nolte (“Warrior,” “Affliction”) and SAG Award winner Michael Peña (“American Hustle”) is a riveting mystery that follows the tragic death of a young boy, and the major police investigation and nationwide media frenzy that subsequently overtake a picturesque seaside town, where anyone is a suspect.

Wayward Pines

Based on a best-selling novel and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”), WAYWARD PINES is an intense, mind-bending 10-episode thriller starring Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon (“Crash”) as a Secret Service agent on a mission to find two missing federal agents in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID. Every step closer to the truth makes him question if he will ever get out of Wayward Pines alive.

Hieroglyph

The world of ancient Egypt – a time of magic, Pharaohs, gods and thieves – lives again in HIEROGLYPH, an exciting action-adventure series from creator/executive producer Travis Beacham (“Pacific Rim,” “Clash of the Titans”). The epic fantasy follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharaoh, forcing him to navigate palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and divine sorcerers, as he races to stop the downfall of one of history’s greatest civilizations.

Backstrom

Created and executive-produced by Hart Hanson (BONES), offbeat comedic crime procedural BACKSTROM centers on Detective EVERETT BACKSTROM (three-time Emmy Award nominee Rainn Wilson, “The Office,” “Six Feet Under”), an unhealthy, offensive, irascible – albeit brilliant – detective who is brought back from exile to run the Portland Police Bureau’s Special Crimes Unit (S.C.U.).

Man i can’t bring myself to watch Gracepoint, Il give credit to FOX for putting some exceptional talent behind this but this remake seems so unnecessary and just feels like a shot for shot remake…I love Anna Gunn but she is no Olivia Colman, i wish they just reaired broadchurch

    Not a bad line up.

Wayward Pines seems interesting for a limited 10-episode run. Although how can anyone trust M. Night Shyamalan at this point.

    • pwnednoob

I’m still going to check it out. Great cast and it looks super creepy and fun. I like this idea of 10 episode series. More networks should do this.

Am a huge fan of M. Night Shyamalan and Wayward Pines looks very interesting. I cant believe Carter (Taraji Henson ) left Person of Interest for Empire. Empire looks like early cancellation.

    • Iona

Taraji P. Henson did not leave POI for EMPIRE. The Person of Interest showrunner told her that her character would be killed off. Obviously, she had to find another job after her stint with POI ended. EMPIRE became available several months after her character was written off POI.

At least Tennants accent is better this time around compared to Rex Is Not Your Lawyer. But a Broadchurch remake seems unnecessary, will they change the case/outcome/story at all? Wayward Pines looks interesting and has some talent involved but Shyamalan’s involvement has me wary, maybe it could work out since it’s a miniseries. Everything else looks kinda mehh imo, Backstrom looks like it could be fun but the majority of these shows will be cancelled within the first season.

You know your lineup is bad when the most interesting thing is an M. Night production. I don’t want to toot my own horn, but 9/10 I’m right about show cancellations, and this lineup stinks.

Also, how did Shyamalan get such a good cast for his show?? Sadly, it’s gonna be canceled, I’m sure. It’s Shyamalan after all.

    • pwnednoob

It wont get canceled, its a 10 episode series. Everything will be already shot by the time it airs. The mystery will be solved at the end of the 10 episodes and thats it. 1 and done. Very different then normal shows.

      • LEM

I like the new mini series or limited series shows coming on now because it will have an end whether it does well or not.

      • LL

That’s what they said about Under the Dome. Then look what they did.

      • LEM

Yes because it gives the network the option, I assume, that if the ratings are good they could continue as a series. I would say CBS is making a mistake though because I have a feeling “Under the Dome” ratings will plummet when it returns.

  • neo

that trailer of gracepoint,it’s exactly just a carbon copy of broadchurch…. every scene is quite same with broadchurch…. doubt the storyline and outcome will be different…

  • bidi

haven’t seen Broadchurch so that’s probably why i’m so stoked for Gracepoint. i have to say these all actually look good. i might have to get cable back

  • Justin

My one takeaway: the cinematography is a lot better than I am accustomed to seeing on network television. Hieroglyph looks like a Starz show, Empire a Showtime show, and Wayward Pines and Gracepoint (bear with me) look like BBC shows.

  • Lee Harvey Cobblepot

I watched Broadchurch, so I’m not sure I really need “Gracepoint”, but it could – well, SHOULD – be pretty good for people who haven’t seen it or just don’t like foreign stuff. And Backstrom could be really awesome, I have pretty high hopes for that one, despite it looking rather generic. Leif GW is the man.

  • LEM

John Mulaney is a good stand up so I hope the show is funny and “The Last man on Earth” looks interesting.

  • LEM

I feel like posting “Broadchurch” spoilers because I hate remakes like this.

  • Redjester

I’m curious if David Tennant plans on making a career out of this? Next he can do a Canadian ‘Broadchurch’ followed by the Russian ‘Broadchurch’ and the sub-Saharan Africa ‘Broadchurch’.

The American Flag waving in the ‘Gracepoint’ trailer pissed me off a little considering the show is a carbon copy of the British original. Still not sure why they’d remake ‘Broadchurch’. Seems a little pointless to me.

  • Redjester

The Last Man On Earth looks interesting, everything else I could do without.

  • Redjester

    Two thoughts on ‘Gracepoint’:

David Tennant’s look is so Western European, I’m having a hard time believing he is American in the trailers. I wonder if it was in his contract that he had to maintain his signature look.

Anna Gunn’s gotta eat. She looks as skinny as Matthew McConnaughey in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and Christian Bale in ‘The Machinist’. Yeesh.
