We’re now just over a week away from the Oscars, and Gravity has the potential to come away a big winner in a number of categories.  Director Alfonso Cuaron’s space-set dramatic thriller is a technical marvel, and while we’re all itching to get a look at the extensive behind-the-scenes features included on the Blu-ray, a visual effects reel for the pic has landed online to give us a small taste of how Cuaron put this thing together.  What’s most surprising is just how much of the film was created using CG-environments, since the blend between the live-action photography and the computer elements are blended seamlessly in the finished product.  This short video gives a VFX breakdown of a few of the film’s shots, showing us each step in the process on the way to the finished image.

Hit the jump to watch the reel.  Gravity will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on February 25th.
