New Trailer for Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY: “I’ve Got You”

     July 25, 2013

Following the Gravity trailers “Detached” and “Drifting”, Warner Bros. has released the last of the three new trailers, “I’ve Got You”.  Although director Alfonso Cuaron’s has shown the power of the long take in the previous segments (because that’s what these trailers really are), “I’ve Got You” shows that the cuts can be just as powerful.  All three segments highlight the terror of being adrift in space, and do so in a way we’ve rarely seen before (the only other moment that comes to mind is when HAL tries to cut Poole loose in 2001: A Space Odyssey).  My only question is if the sound effects that are in this trailer will be used in the final cut.  As Cuaron reminded the audience in Hall H at Comic-Con, there’s no sound in space.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Sandra Bullock and George ClooneyGravity opens in 3D on October 4th.

Here’s the synopsis for Gravity:

Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

I’ve never been more emotionally engrossed when watching a simple movie trailer. What a job (in just a trailer!) of making the viewer feel the utter helplessness of being out of control in zero gravity. Can’t wait for this.

It’s an impressive piece of footage, but let’s call it what it really is; a clip. Not a trailer.

    I am DEFINITELY seeing this!

Just gets better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better.

i literally let out a verbal cringe at the end when Cloon Tang was slipping away. i will definitely be checking this one out in IMAX. looks insanely intense

The comment about sound effects in the article… If you watch it again you realize that the only sound you hear is when the characters impact something.. That is accurate because the impact is being picked up by the radios they are wearing. The reason we hear the tether snap is because those vibrations would resonate though their suits. Pretty brilliant if you ask me.

If this does not win for best Visual Effects or Cinematography or at least for Sound, then the Oscars is rigged. I have a friend who is working on this film in the visual effects department and everything you see in these trailers is ALL CGI! The only thing this is not CGI is Sandra’s and Clooney’s face. This looks breathtaking. Just still curious how the story is going to work out.

They’ve got to stop showing trailers. Each one are nerve-wracking and I’m afraid that these are the most dramatic parts. Three trailers for this kind of potentially awesome work are enugh. Now heavy rotation.

how many times does she go adrift into space?

I saw the trailer on iTunes. It sucks ass. The special effects look stank. I say this shit will be available for rent the same fucking day it is released to theaters. Bullock is a hack.

In space no one can hear you scream….

For some reason, Bullock’s relentless “eh! ah! uh! oh! ah!” throughout the trailer really bugs me. The noises are probably completely realistic for someone in that situation, but when I’m watching these clips it annoys me. However, I, still, am looking forward to seeing this!

Looks very CGI. I know it is CGI but when it looks very CGI it’s a bad thing. I said CGI far too much

Looks kinda like Deep Blue Sea, except without the sea… or bikini’s… or sharks.
