Here’s your first look at Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern. Reynolds graces the cover of the July 23 issue of Entertainment Weekly, on newsstands tomorrow, which focuses on San Diego Comic Con.
I gotta admit, it looks pretty bad ass, even if it’s not exactly like the comic books. Green Lantern will be featured Saturday during the Warner Brothers panel at next week’s convention and Collider will be the place to be minutes after the panel ends for all the news. Green Lantern, directed by Martin Campbell and starring Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong hits theaters June 17, 2011. Hit the jump for the full cover.

OMG.. I still don’t know how to react to it!
I’m still not sure if they did a good or a bad job on his outfit. Hmm.. I have to see the trailer for me to get convinced that they actually pulled a good job on GL:P

Not a fan of the Mister Goodbody veins of power running through it. It's oddly discomforting at first glance.
Terrible, just terrible.
Not into Green Lantern but my God that just makes me less intrested in it.
The Slim Goodbody reference was spot on (golf clap).
hotttttt
It's way to photoshopped to be a high res production shot. The face is just a poor fan art attempt to add a mask to Ryan's face. I like the organic veins in the suit, it gives it detail and gives it a sense of realism that a flat leathery type suit couldn't pull off.
But I'm keeping an open mind until I see it in action at Comic-Con.
Nope. Should have left it the way it is in the comics.
The design itself is bland/minimalist/lifeless, and the worst thing about this image is that, after all this talk of motion capture and CGI suit – it just looks like a crappy rubber bodysuit they could have made for a few thousand dollars.
Its likely this isn't the “actual” suit that we will see in the movie but a photoshop version created by one of the CG guys for promotion, I doubt they have enough of the film ready yet to even have a fully rendered image of Reynolds in the suit.
they've been filming since march dude.
Organic, Modern, Alien. I guess they nailed that three down. I won't say anything about it being lame or unfaithful until I've seen the final product in action.
you ever heard of pre production… idiot
I have been collecting comics for a long time, both DC and Marvel a like, and I think that he looks good as the Green Lantern, I even like the costume, the rest of you need to tap into the inner child and imagination.
Looks a bit like the nano suit from Crysis – but green. Not sure if the comics can replicated in film
Meh.
IF this is how he looks at the END of the movie after he's all powered up from absorbing all the energy from the main power battery, then im ok with it. But if this is how he is going to look all the time through out the entire movie….. I HATE IT
This looks a lot like the overpowered Green Lantern Kyle Rayner when he turned into Ion. This looks like an obvious photoshopped image; I'm a graphic artist by trade and see this stuff all day long. It's been manipulated, and not completely well, at that.
Hot damn this is sexy. Wears the black though? Can't wait to see how the suit looks when it is idle in not in what appears to be Full-powered up mode.
Huuuh?… I thought that curly-haired comedy-dude would play the Green Lantern, or am I confused with something else?
Oh no, I had a look and that's called 'The Green Hornet'. No wonder I was confused. XD
Anyway, I thought Ryan Reynolds was supposed to get a Deadpool-spinoff or something?
Or will he just be in another X-Men/Wolverine-movie or perhaps the Magneto-one?
Hah, yeah.
100 times rather have the Nanosuit though. lol
“Maximum lameness…” or something.
well to clarify when they start filming that is actually called production. Pre production is making of storyboards writing the script and any concept art. When they get to doing the cg integrations is at the tail end of filming and post production. Although to be honest they wouldn't have made the film with the fully cg suit without having gone through the trouble of doing a pre production test of it first. So I am sure there is already a test version of the cg suit done it just doesn't look that impressive or gives too much away for them to show that.
it reminds me of the dude from that old 80s show “auto-man”. Where he had that weird blue flashing suit.
Once again DC allows Hollywood the opportunity to destroy the look of another comic icon. The costume sucks
