Warner Bros. has released an extended TV spot for Green Lantern. It’s basically an abridged version of the preview footage that was released at the beginning of the month, but there are a few new shots sprinkled in for good measure. I really hope that the film delivers because if it’s a success it will (hopefully) encourage studios to take on riskier comic book movies. It’s the same reason I’m rooting for Thor and get discouraged every time I see the small-town stuff. I’m willing to accept “gritty, real” takes on the genre but I want some variety and some grandiosity in my superhero movies and it looks like Green Lantern will bring that to the table.
Hit the jump to check out the extended TV spot. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, and Mark Strong. Green Lantern opens in 3D on June 17th.
Here’s the official synopsis for Green Lantern:
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Still looks (almost) as lame as X-Men:First Class!
not sure if srs
So Skarsgaard plays Harry Knowles in this?
hahahaha too funny
The story seems good, but what worries me is the dodgy action and from appearances lame acting. (no offence to the actors)
I still think Josh Dumahael should have played GL, I’m so f–kin sick of
Ryan Reynolds, He’s would have made a better Flash tho
They should have went with Bradley Cooper. I can’t even watch the trailers for this anymore. Every time I see Ryan Reynolds and that costume, its like fingernails on a blackboard. I couldn’t sit through this even if I wanted to. Too much cringe worthy stuff, like when he says ‘I pledge allegiance to a lantern given to me by a purple alien.’ Ouch. Bad, bad writing. Terrible casting and a costume that’s an eyesore. WB went Scooby Doo on Green Lantern.
