Watch 4 Minutes of GREEN LANTERN Footage

Warner Bros. has released four minutes of the Green Lantern footage they recently debuted at CinemaCon and WonderCon.  The clip provides a long look at the on-screen Oa, and I really like what I see.  It’s a geometrically crazy world that human Ryan Reynolds has to believably interact with, and it looks like the visual effects department nailed it.

Directed by Martin Campbell, Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Jay O. Sanders, Temuera Morrison, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins.  The DC Comics superhero adaptation is scheduled for release on June 17.  Watch the footage after the jump.

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

  1. Flick looks fun. Just hate that CGI suit. And people were complaining about Capt. America’s floating head!

  2. It looks much better than I thoguht it would based on the first trailer. That said, the mask still looks fake.

  3. So they cut Blake Lively completely along with the goofy sidekick, the bad jokes, the “i know, right?” and they get a kickass trailer. They will do the same in the actual movie?

  4. Yeah everything still looks pretty dodgy, seems the art department really screwed up since the CGI technically speaking isn’t bad. The suit still looks lame the mask most of all.

BUT it looks like they’re taking this seriously, very epic. The details need to worked out but with luck looks like it will be at worst an average superhero film.

  5. still not completely convinced. i agree that the scope and cgi looks a loooot better here but the suit is still rather ridiculous and they dont really include much of hal talking or cracking bad jokes in this video, which was one of the main reasons i hated the first trailer. we’ll just have to wait and see.

  6. wow, blake, green lantern’s mask looks fake to you? what is your reference, the one drawn in the comics? the one painted in the faces of the green lantern toys? or the one that comes with halloween costumes?

  7. I don’t know… I’m not yet sold on this, but its an improvement from that shitty trailer, which is not saying much. We’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

  8. i liked the first trailer and absolutely LOVED this one a million times more. My only complaint is that mask. I’m still sold and will see multiple times.

  9. Ryan Reynolds=will be at the very least entertaining. That said I think it will be decent if not better than decent.

  10. Yep this is more ‘serious’ than the first footage that was released. That seriously sucked!!!! But this has a good…great chance of getting me to a theater on opening day :-) .

  11. So I guess everyone wants the mask to look look a piece plastic. The mask looks fake because it IS fake, its made of energy, there is green energy on his fucking face! Its not supposed to look like fabric or plastic or whatever the hell else you think it should be made of, same goes for the rest of the suit.

  12. just looking at this given i have no biased preference to any superhero movie coming this summer this 2nd trailer definetely puts GL at the top spot of all comic book movies.

i had doubts but judging by the trailer which is the only thing we can do GL is kicking ass n is now one of my top must see movie along with cowboys and aliens and hangover 2.

stunning is all i can say

  13. haha, good times for comic fans, i’m neither a dc or marvel fanboy, so i’m going enjoy all 3 coming up, Thor, GL and Cap America. I had to admit, I hope they don’t go overboard on the CG in this movie

  14. I’ve never really cared for Reynolds as an actor, but after seeing him in Buried, which he deserved an Oscar for in my opinion, and then seeing this footage, I’m starting to get excited for this.

  15. Can’t wait to see this-looks awesome!
Being a long-time GL fan, this is the superhero movie of the year for me!
Mark Strong is also one of my fave actors-i hope his Sinestro goes the way of the comics in the sequel!

  16. some people think that GREEN LANTERN won’t succeed. I think it is going to be the best movie ever!!!!!!!!!
