Are you ready for this? I have to do it. It’s too obvious to ignore… We have some grim news. While Grimm managed to stay on the air since it first premiered on NBC in 2011 and deliver five seasons, NBC announced on Monday that this forthcoming sixth run will be its last.

Some of the cast have already begun to make their goodbyes on social media. “While we’re sad to announce the [sixth] season will be our last, we’re thrilled to be going out with a bang,” Elizabeth Tulloch wrote. “I want to add that we're eternally grateful to all of our amazing fans who helped get us to 123 (!!) episodes of [Grimm] and to Portland.”

David Giuntoli, Sasha Roiz, Claire Coffee, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner, Bitsie Tulloch, Russell Hornsby, and Reggie Lee also starred in the series that surpassed the 100 episode milestone last season. Although, perhaps we should have seen this news coming when the season 5 finale was titled “The Beginning of the End.”

Season 6 will premiere on the network on January 6 beginning at 8 p.m. Here’s some information on what we can expect heading for the conclusion, via an NBC press release:

The nefarious forces of Black Claw have been silenced and Nick (David Giuntoli) faces an all too familiar foe in Capt. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz). Now in the seat of power as the mayor elect of Portland, Renard is poised to bring rise to his own brand of law and order. Nick must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). It will take the full force of Nick and his allies to find a way to bring the peace. Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) grapple with bringing a child into a new and tumultuous world, and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) faces unsettling identity issues as her former self lurks below the surface.

Elsewhere, NBC announced the Wizard of Oz-inspired Emerald City will debut on January 6 with a two-hour premiere starting at 9 p.m., and The New Celebrity Apprentice with Arnold Schwarzenegger as Donald Trump’s replacement will drop on January 2 at 8 p.m.
