On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (December 7th, 2016) John Campea, Jeremy Jahns, Jon Schnepp, Kristian Harloff, Natasha Martinez and Wendy Lee discuss the following:
- Vin Diesel says we’ll see Groot vs Hulk in an MCU Movie
- Will Ferrell to star in eSports comedy movie from Legendary Pictures
- AMC Rewind
- First concept art, plot, and cast revealed for Pixar’s Coco
- Daisy Ridley thought Rey’s parentage was revealed in The Force Awakens
- First trailer for The Circle starring Tom Hanks and Emma Watson
- Marvel vs Star Wars
We’ve already seen the Incredible Hulk spar with Thor and Iron Man, but how about seeing him fight Groot? That’s the question of the year and thanks to Vin Diesel who plays the voice of Groot, we could actually see the two Marvel favorites square off in an upcoming movie. Diesel recently spoke to Screen Junkies at Brazil’s Comic-Con and not only did he tease a Groot vs Hulk, but he also had an idea for another interesting MCU stand alone by saying that if it’s up to James Gunn, a movie about Groot and Rocket would happen sometime after Avengers: Infinity War. Adding to this he said that somewhere in the universe we will see a Groot vs. Hulk battle.
According to Deadline, Will Ferrell has been tapped to headline an upcoming eSports comedy feature from Legendary Pictures and Gary Sanchez Productions. The movie will center on Ferrell as a member of a professional eSports team in which he’s an anomaly in the sport because players usually retire in their 20s due to slowing hand-eye coordination. Evil Geniuses and Fnatic, two of the world’s top eSports teams in the world, are also in talks to be part of the film with a release date yet to be determined.

Thanks to a large profile in EW, the first concept art, plot details and cast have been announced for Pixar’s upcoming original movie, Coco. Coco follows the secret musical ambitions of 12-year-old Miguel who discovers an amazing link between himself and famous singer, the late Ernesto de la Cruz played by Benjamin Bratt. Miguel then accidentally enters the underworld known as the Land of the Dead where he teams up a friendly spirit named Hector, voiced by Gael Garcia Bernal, in order to find De la Cruz and earn his family’s blessing to return to the Land of the Living before time runs out. The movie will be co-directed by Toy Story 3 helmer Lee Unkrich and writer Adrian Molina, and opens on November 22, 2017.
In a recent interview with Time Out London to promote her documentary The Eagle Huntress, Daisy Ridley revealed that she originally assumed the answer as to who her parents are was actually revealed in The Force Awakens.
The first trailer has been released for The Circle. The movie, based on the novel of the same name by Dave Eggers, stars Emma Watson as a young woman who joins a social media company run by a charismatic figure, played by Tom Hanks, who encourages his employees to live their lives with complete transparency. The movie is directed by The Spectacular Now’s James Ponsoldt and also stars John Boyega and Karen Gillan. It hits theatres on April 28, 2017.

Hey Collider Crew how’s it going Guys thanks for taking my Question! The Other day I heard someone talk about the MCU Brand being already bigger than the STAR WARS property! It got me thinking? Is this true? Or Just some die hard Marvel fan’s DREAM? Thanks You Guys Rock!!
Hi Collider crew. Greetings and much love from Sweden.
My question is as follows: How good does the next Transformers movie have to be in order to revive the franchise in the eyes of fans and critics? (It is probably going to make a lot of money). I really like the first and third installment, but even if the fifth is just as good, I think it won’t be enough to create any hope for the future.
