GROWN UPS 2 Adds Cheri Oteri and Nick Swardson

     May 11, 2012

Adam Sandler has added fellow SNL co-star, Cheri Oteri (Liar Liar) and Happy Madison mainstay, Nick Swardson (Just Go With It) to the cast of Grown Ups 2.  Featuring the return of Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek and Maya Rudolph, Sandler’s first ever sequel will feature newcomers Taylor Lautner, Oliver Cooper and David Henrie as fraternity brothers who antagonize Sandler and Co. Dennis Dugan will also return to direct the sequel for Happy Madison and Sony.  Hit the jump for details on Oteri and Swardson’s characters.

Variety reports that Swardson is set to cheri-oteri-grown-ups-2-sequelplay Schneider’s brother, a school bus driver who has been known to occasionally drive under the influence of alcohol.  Oteri will star as an ex-girlfriend from Sandler’s middle school days who happens to work at his wife’s (Hayek) store.  Grown Ups 2 is currently scheduled for a July 12th, 2013 release, currently set to go up against Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.  Here’s the synopsis from the first film, which probably won’t differ all that much from the second:

Grown Ups, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade, is a comedy about five friends and former teammates who reunite years later to honor the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives (Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph) and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesn’t mean growing up.

doesn’t sandler have enough money? doesn’t he want to challenge himself like in Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me, Funny People – please someone make him stop this garbage.

Reign Over Me was terrific. Should’ve been a bigger hit and should’ve gotten him an Oscar nod.

Sorry this has nothing to do with your comment. I did not know how to leave on of my own. In this article it says that Rob is going to be in Grown Ups 2. But IMDB (the best movie database site) does not list him as a member. He also was not in That’s My Boy. It was so wierd seeing a Happy Madision film without Rob.

I really thought Swardson would be bigger by now and not have to resort to crap like this. I know he’s friends with Sandler and works for his company but Sandler hasn’t been funny in a long time but Swardson seemed to be getting better for a few years and now he’s just dragged down.

They gave Swardson his chance and he made Bucky Larson. The best thing he ever did was the highly underrated Grandma’s Boy. Of all the movies Sandler had to pick from to make a sequel he picks Grown Ups? I’m actually glad he didn’t pick Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore. He doesn’t have the balls to make an edgy comedic film anymore. I can’t wait for Jack & Jill 2.

This movie was bad and Adam Sandler should feel bad. Grown Ups sucked mad butt, and for them to be even considering making a part two, let alone a sequel with the GRAND POOBA of SUCK, Nick Swardson, is a catastrophic abomination of astronomical proportions.

      Can I punch you?

If grown ups sucks why do you bother reading this article dannanon?

  • SP1234

Taylor is doing this? Rob has Cosmopolis, Kristen has Snow White and this is what Taylor was left with? Seriously should’ve done the Gus Van Sant thing.

I didn’t see Grown Ups in the theater however I’ve seen it several times on cable. I love the interaction between the characters BUT I think Rob Schneider is the least funny of the bunch…. his acting is sooooooo contrived and boring and I’m not surprised that his TV show bombed. He should be eternally greatful that he has a friend like Adam Sandler who is loyal to his friends to a fault. Sounds like Schneider got too big for his britches once he got his TV show and wanted more money than the studio was willing to spend. Too bad Rob…. Grown Ups 2 will be a success without you !!! Remember next time that loyalty is a two way street !!!!!!
    BTW – Grand Ma’s Boy is a Riot !!!!
