GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: Seven New Images Take Us to Knowhere and Back

     June 19, 2014

Marvel has released seven new Guardians of the Galaxy images.  The story follows five intergalactic misfits—Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper)—as they set out to recapture a powerful and mysterious orb from the villainous Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).  These images were briefly glimpsed in the trailer, but these stills allow us to focus on some cool details like Knowhere looking like a decaying skull.  We also get a close up on Ronan, who makes Pace look unrecognizable, at least from this perspective.

Hit the jump to check out the Guardians of the Galaxy images.  The film opens in 3D on August 1st, and also stars Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Benicio Del Toro, Djimon Hounsou, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly, and Peter Serafinowicz.

Here’s the official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy:

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

    yes to all of this!!
Also Matt, Knowhere looks like a head, because it is one. The severed head of a dead Celestial. As in the same type of being that Galactus is. GoTG is some cool stuff!

    • Dark Knight of Steel

Galactus is not a Celestial, Galactus was once an explorer called Galan from the planet Taa, when all life was wiped out during the pre-Big Bang universe, Galan survived and was transformed into Galactus, then came the Celestials who created life and death in the post-Big Bang universe. Galactus and the Celestials are not connected just because they are both giant humanoids from space.

        damn, ya’ll schooled me.

    • Norrin Radd

Galactus isn’t a Celestial, he is a Cosmic Enitity with enormous powers and no known purpose like the Stranger.

I don’t know how I feel how Ronan looks yet but we’ve still got to get a very clear shot of him. Also don’t like how they made Korath look. Everything else is amazing though.
