Marvel has released a new poster for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy.  The story follows five intergalactic misfits—Peter Quill aka Starlord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper)—as they set out to recapture a powerful and mysterious orb from the villainous Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).  I really like this poster.  With a little artistic tweaking, it would be right at home on the cover of a pulpy sci-fi paperback.

Hit the jump to check out the Guardians of the Galaxy poster, and come back Monday at 10:00am PST to watch the new trailer.  You can also click on the respective links for official character descriptions, Pratt's interview with Steve, and new behind-the-scenes images.  The film opens in 3D on August 1st, and also stars Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. ReillyPeter Serafinowicz, Michael Rooker, and Glenn Close.
