Here’s the official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy:

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

  • Calcazone

I’m glad he doesn’t have the cockney accent he’s had games and cartoons, it never lined up with the voice I imagined while reading the comics.

  • André Luiz da Silva

    This is Beautiful.

    • Sola do Tênis

      Better english than portuguese!
      Beautiful indeed, my friend!

  • Brandon

“Cockney” kept previously coming up in articles, and I was a little nervous about the end product. Well, the end product is perfect. Come on, August!

  • Truth Hurts

Yeesh, this movie looks to be garbage. When nerd pretending to be badass goes wrong.

    • Oliver Queen

How ’bout we start judging after seeing the movie? I promise you, you’re not gonna be disappointed, just give it a shot.

      • Jack

Well, you’re judging the movie, too, my friend. In a positive way. Still a judgement.

      • MITIOR

good answer. I want the movie to be good thou

    • Butt Hurt

Yeesh, what limp wristed nerd comes on an internet site and tries to pretend to be a badass?

      • The Truth Hurts

I ain’t pretending you punk ass beotch. This movie reeks of when nerds want to create funny/cool badass characters but have no idea how to go about it because they’re viriginal nerds. “Wow, did you like totes see him flip the bird at that guy bro? So outrageous and badass! I’d do the same thing to the math nerds who take my lunch money if I wasn’t such a pussy. He’s got like, attitude. It’s going to blow the squares minds! A talking Raccoon who’s sassy riding a talking tree will show em all!”
When this movie falls flat on its face it will prove that nerds should stick with what they know best: being virgins.

      • Sanjay Dhokia

Are you a cunt? I think – yes, you certainly are

  • Oliver Queen

I am stunned. This is perfect and now all we need to see is Ronan and hear Groot.

    • The_Smirking_Revenge

we heard it… Vin said “Groot”, just imagine the “I am” in front and there ya go. ;p

I don’t want to hear all iterations of “I am Groot” until I see the movie.

Damn, August can’t come fast enough.

      • marcnm

I can see it now: “I’M GROOT JAMES B*TCH!” for months on end.

      • Oliver Queen

Vin’s voice might still be tweaked from his voice in the video. Besides i want to hear it in a scene not imagine what i could have imagined when i first heard the news of him being Groot. So until we hear a scene from this movie where he says “I Am Groot” (and its one scene, not all the iterations), we haven’t heard it.

    love it!!

  • bidi

i guess i just always figured that if such a diminutive, cute little guy would be so ferocious and dangerous, then he should have a bad ass voice. Cooper isn’t bad, and i haven’t heard enough of him yet, but i feel like it should’ve been someone like Bob Hoskins or something like that

    • galann

Being so small he needs to a have a high pitched voice, Bradley is pretty high pitched but still sounds manly.

  • Jamesy

Kinda disappointed they didn’t go the cockney accent route, would have been cool to hear Cooper attempt it. I’ve kinda got the feeling he may drop into it though, like switch between accents when Rockets in different moods etc.

    • Daniel Ronczkowski

      how would that make sense?

    • Grayden

Seems like Cooper’s given him a bit of Jersey instead. If Guy Richie was making the movie, a Cockney would’ve been expected, if not appropriate.

  • NICK НΛRT

hmm not totally sold on his voice but wtf that visual effects test looks INCREDIBLE i dont think ive ever seen a cgi mammal done more convincingly except maybe rise of the planet of the apes

    • vpuik

They should have given Richard Parker in Life of Pi a huge laser gun.

  • André Luiz da Silva

    Drax.

  • Django9000

To imagine Groot just picture the voice from Iron Giant, saying Groot’s iconic line in a couple dozen iterations. There ya go – perfect casting choice! =)

On a side note – I have to wonder if Battista just requires every script include a slo motion shot of him raising his arms with his jaw propped open, like a victory shot from a ’90s video game. There’s almost an identical shot in “Man With the Iron Fists”. Sure he’ll do fine, but a kicker picturing it could’ve been Mamoa… Still. Uber psyched for this. (And glad they released these intro videos, to bring in the confused masses a bit)

  • ʝoe ßloggs

Are ya’ll enthused about the visuals or the voice? Visuals are amazing but there was little to go on for vocals.

    • Werefon

It was a straight up voice without any filtration. I guess in April when we get second trailer, it will be twiked a bit.

  • Chad Jordan

Can’t wait! Though for some reason whenever I try to watch the video on my iphone or ipad it splits it into two squished videos side by side. It does this for all the Guardians videos. No other collider videos have this problem. Thoughts on a fix? Guessing its not on my end…seems weird though.

I hate when voice clips sound so cut together. It literally vocalizes that whatever’s being said is complete bullshit.
