Here’s the official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy:

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

It’s like when iron man came out. Cap and Thor, to a lesser extent, but THIS is so unknown, and will dilate our pupils til we look like gollum, I just know it’s gonna be awesomazing

      • DEADP00L

It’s just got all the right people on it too. Each one has made some marvel movie in the past and knows what doesn’t work. So there can’t be anything in here that won’t be a great stand alone. Plus it’s take using classic songs has a very Ironman 1 feel to it – which works soooo well.

      • The Walking Cuban

Good point there, can you picture Luke cage, if they nailed the music? Al Green, Barry White, ISAAC HAAAAYES, aw snap

      • DEADP00L

I never thought I would hear such great music. As in ACTUAL music!

Excellent VFX, 3D characters, colorful universe, this will be a hit.

It’s a Marvel Film so why not? It’s the expansion of the universe and a story that will finally address shed light on the gems. I always liked the cosmic side of Marvel because that has major role in the comics and I also look at the Mystical side with Dr.Strange the same way. It looks like a good movie so I can’t wait to see it.

I laughed my ass off when he said that. If that’s the taste of humor we’re going to get from this film, then I’m all in. I definitely think I’ll be seeing this one in the theaters twice.
