Other than the expectation that it will be great, there’s not a lot known about Guillermo Del Toro’s plans for adapting “The Hobbit” beyond making it into two movies. Thankfully, Empire decided to exist for twenty years and crank out amazing content over that time and as their birthday gift, they were able to get Del Toro and Producer Peter Jackson to spill a couple details about the film.
Says Del Toro: “We’ve decided to have The Hobbit span the two movies, including the White Council and the comings and goings of Gandalf to Dol Guldur.” I haven’t read “The Hobbit” in about a decade but I guess that news would be exciting for a more devoted reader of the book.
Says Jackson: “We decided it would be a mistake to try to cram everything into one movie. The essential brief was to do The Hobbit, and it allows us to make The Hobbit in a little more style, if you like, of the [LOTR] trilogy.” No one minds anything in the style of the LOTR trilogy if that style is quality and overseen by Peter Jackson and/or Guillermo Del Toro.
