Guillermo Del Toro to Announce Next Project at Comic-Con!

by     Posted 4 years, 48 days ago

When Guillermo del Toro dropped out of directing The Hobbit, many people were understandable disappointed.  After all, getting GDT behind the camera for The Hobbit seemed like a match made in heaven, and it seemed like everyone in cyberspace was in universal agreement.  Which is rare.

Since he dropped out, many have been guessing what he might do next.  We reported a rumor he might do Van Helsing at Universal.  With the online chatter, del Toro even responded to the rumors, saying he’s only in talks for the project.  So the big question is…what is he going to direct next?  According to del Toro, we aren’t going to have to wait much longer to find out as he just announced he will tell everyone at Comic-Con next month!  Hit the jump for more.

On del Toro’s official site Deltorofilms he wrote:

Van Helsing (writing and producing) is still in talks and not quite certain. Even then, I would like to share my plans only at COMICON. I am taking it slowly and marking very, very carefully the calendar of projects that I will be involved as producer, writer, etc I will not announce the project I intend to direct until then . I am very happy to say that all the projects and partnerships being considered are both quite surprising and, I hope, powerful. Much as I want, I cannot say much more at this time but I anxiously await to share these with you. I will be shopping on the floor in San DIego for several days. See you there!!

Needless to say, we’ll post what he says at Comic-Con as soon as soon as he makes the announcement.  While I’d love to see a Hellboy 3, the fact is, I’ll take whatever he wants to make.

    Direct The Strain series please…

Blade 2 is not as cheesy as Hellboy. Blade 2 is his best work.

My thoughts exactly. Last I heard AMC had the rights.

I love Hellboy but I wish it's something else. I feel like I just saw Hellboy 2.

WOuldn't it be great if he did the Monster Sqaud remake? Im just saying.

He already did. It's called Blade 2. Same Vampiric qualities….a direct ripoff of his film. Why do you think he got a piece of the profits?

A live action version of Ocarina of Time would be mindblowing.

Not even close. B2 is one of his worst.

I wish he would do a Planet of the Apes movie. At least he has what it would take to make it a movie worth doing in the first place – thats called VISION !
