Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman Still Game for HELLBOY 3

Even though it will probably never happen, but Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman would still like to make Hellboy 3 a reality.  Previously, Del Toro had seemed resigned to the fact that because the first two movies had failed to light up the box office, a studio probably wouldn’t be interested in paying for a third one.  However, when asked at Comic-Con about bringing Big Red back to the big-screen, Del Toro responded, “I can say publicly that now [Perlman and I] are together in trying [to do Hellboy 3].”

Speaking to EW, Perlman followed-up Del Toro’s statement by explaining:

“The [first] two movies were really set up to have this unbelievable resolve,” said Perlman. “Everything that was done in both movies was leading up to this destiny, written in stone, of what Hellboy has been summoned to Earth to do. To not do it, particularly in light of the scope that Guillermo is thinking of for the resolve, would be in my mind a little bit of a shame.”

Hellboy II: The Golden Army definitely has a great set-up with Liz (Selma Blair) willing to sacrifice the world if it means saving Hellboy’s life.  I would love to see where that story concludes.  However, as I said in the intro, a conclusion seems unlikely.  The only way I can see it happening on the scale Del Toro is likely envisioning is if a studio wants to keep him happy and on board for an unrelated project.

I think that Hellboy should fight/battle against a second Hellboy that is more evil and menacing that our hero. A real whirlwind of destruction. Unlike those beasts from the first movie. Something that will really test him.

This will only happen if Pacific Rim does gang busters.

Every time I read a poorly written article on Collider, I ask myself, “Who wrote this garbage?” The answer is always “Matt Goldberg.”

Drop “even though” or delete “but.” If anything should be correct, it should be THE FIRST SENTENCE.

P.S. “Big screen” is two words. Trust me on this. I graduated from first grade.

I think Del Toro, should combine this with another project he wanted to direct and have Hellboy beat the crap out of Bilbo Baggins for stealing the ring.
