New details for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure—the latest upcoming attraction at Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter—have been revealed. Even before we knew the name of the attraction, we knew this was described as a “highly themed coaster,” and now we have a better idea of just how much of a coaster this attraction really is. Spoiler alert: you're gonna wanna hold on to your butts.

The all-new attraction—located where the Dragon Challenge coaster used to be in Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park—combines a new level of storytelling and innovative coaster technology with rich environments and sets. To that end, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure includes an actual forest with over 1,200 live trees that bring the Forbidden Forest of the Harry Potter books and films to life. Guests will fly deep into the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid as their guide, braving the mysteries and thrills beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle on a groundbreaking coaster experience unlike any other.

This “story coaster” is the longest roller coaster in Florida, measuring nearly a mile in length (5,035 feet). It also features the most launches of any roller coaster in the world with seven, and unexpectedly drops nearly 17 feet on the first coaster in the U.S. to feature a free-fall vertical drop. As if that wasn’t enough, guests will be catapulted 65 feet in the air at a more than 70-degree angle—and then immediately drop backward in one movement.

Universal Orlando Resort has created its most life-like animated figure for the most highly themed, immersive coaster experience yet, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure – opening June 13.

The queue itself is located amongst ruins, that are behind Hagrid’s hut. Here’s how it’s officially described:

Before taking off on an exciting journey through the Forbidden Forest, guests will enter ruins which appear to have been abandoned for centuries behind Hagrid’s hut. The ruins were imagined and brought to life by Universal’s award-winning Creative team in collaboration with the Harry Potter films’ Production Designer, Stuart Craig, and Art Director, Alan Gilmore. Hagrid now uses the ruins for groundskeeping at Hogwarts. And this is where guests’ Care of Magical Creatures class will begin.

As they make their way to their enchanted motorbikes, guests will see materials from the class, including dragon eggs on the verge of hatching and a makeshift nursery where Hagrid kept his Blast-Ended Skrewts – the creatures that are being brought to life for the first time ever for this epic new adventure. Guests will encounter beloved characters from the Harry Potter films including Arthur Weasley, Hagrid, and his loyal dog, Fang, through a pre-show experience brought to life with digital projection and special effects. During this interaction, guests learn about their impending trip to the Forbidden Forest as part of their lesson for the day.

Check out some video of the attraction, as well as some official photos, below. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opens on June 13, 2019.
