‘Hail, Caesar!’: The Coen Brothers Go Back to Old Hollywood in New Featurette

     January 28, 2016

Hail, Caesar! is almost here and anticipation couldn’t be higher around these parts. Joel and Ethan Coen‘s latest comedy had one of our top trailers of 2015, and not only was it voted our most highly anticipated Universal movie of the year, but our most anticipated film of 2016 point blank. And for good reason. A New Coen film is always worth getting excited about, especially when they’re up to their kidnapping and conspiracy antics, and even more so they’ve lined up a cast that includes George ClooneyScarlett JohanssonTilda SwintonJosh BrolinFrances McDormand, and Channing Tatum dancing around in a sailor suit.

Brolin stars as Eddie Mannix, an old-timey Hollywood “fixer” who has a reputation for keeping actors’ scandals out of the press. But when Baird Whitlock (Clooney) is kidnapped and held for ransom by a group calling themselves The Future, Mannix is tasked with collecting the $100,000 demand and rescuing the star. It’s a classic Coen Brothers set-up and will give them their first opportunity to delve into the madness of Hollywood since Barton Fink. All in all, just about everything about Hail, Caesar! seems like a delight.

Ralph FiennesJonah Hill, and Alden Ehrenreich, and arrives in theaters February 6th. Check out the new behind-the-scenes featurette below.

Here’s the official synopsis for Hail, Caesar!

Four-time Oscar®-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct Hail, Caesar!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age.  Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Channing Tatum, Hail, Caesar! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix.

The comedy is produced by the Coen brothers under their Mike Zoss Productions banner alongside Working Title Films’ Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
