HALLOWEEN 3D Removed from 2012 Release Schedule

Things aren’t looking good for a third go-around with the reimagined Halloween series. Rob Zombie kicked off the reboot with 2007’s less-than-inspiring Halloween, followed by the direct sequel Halloween II in 2009. The first film made nearly $80 million at the box office, so Halloween II was all but guaranteed given the seres’ low production cost. The second film wasn’t the big hit that the first one was, but still made a profitable $39 million. Shortly after the release of Halloween II, The Weinstein Company announced plans for a Rob Zombie-less Halloween 3D. A 2010 release was planned with My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier in tow, but production was ultimately delayed forcing Lussier to drop out.

The Weinstein Company got trigger happy last June and announced 2012 release dates for Halloween 3D and Scary Movie 5 despite having no script, director, actors, etc. for either film. The latter was recently pushed back, and now the October 2012 release date for Halloween 3D has been replaced with a “TBA” over at Box Office Mojo. If I had to guess, I’d say we won’t be seeing Halloween 3D anytime soon. If anything, the company might go for yet another reboot of the series, but given the tepid reaction to Halloween II I can’t imagine they’re dead set on continuing the story Zombie started.

good. the rob zombie films were abortions. the man is a hack. there is no reason to continue the films he made. just watch the original 2. infinitely better then zombie’s garbage films.

Bullshit rob zombie intensely updated the status of the Halloween series so I have no idea what your talking about little boy

    • Lynx

what a retard! zombie made these films more brutal than the orignal’s and this is how it should have been first time around!

      • Jim Kong-Il

Moron. The original Halloween wasn’t supposed to be a bloodbath, it was supposed to be genuinely creepy and chilling, which it was, as well as being a more coherent and well-made movie. While I do enjoy my fair share of gorehound movies, saying Zombie’s remakes are better because they’re “more brutal” tells me you probably have the attention span of a hummingbird if a movie doesn’t contain endless hacking and slashing.

“Moron. The original Halloween wasn’t supposed to be a bloodbath, it was supposed to be genuinely creepy and chilling, which it was, as well as being a more coherent and well-made movie”
Yeah, the originallll Halloween wasn’t supposed to be a bloodbath. That’s why its Rob Zombies newer version of it, and not John Carpenters. Lol

The original Halloween will always be better story wise and with you saying that the movie was supposed to be more brutal you should check out the history behind the original movie before commenting jackass.

Rob Zombie ruined the series. They were embarassingly bad. I’ll keep watching the only 3 I care about: The orginal Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981) and Halloween: H20 (1998).

    • Jim

The first two originals and H20 were the best. 4 and 5 weren’t that bad either.

        Amen, brother. Amen.

Though I appreciate Zombie’s appreciation for great horror films, he really shouldn’t be behind the lens…and his wife shouldn’t be on the other end. Nobody’s afraid of the obvious, Rob. Cut the shite.

so they continue the movies without zombie or they make new from the start?well see

Why not go back to the original idea behind HALLOWEEN 3, create a horror film around the holiday of Halloween, an anathology of flicks; no more of the zombie MM crap!

  • jesse

zombie made his films wayyy to detailed for halloweens creepy simple tone, also to top that he tried to go more realistisc yet gave michael the ability to take a bullet to the head how? well normally we would think the thorn curse, but his explanaton which was too early anway was that mommy told him to do it. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? please somebody remake rzs halloween

    • Bailey Giannini

I’m not trying to put anyone down or anything but this review is completely wrong. If they’re gonna remake any of Rob Zombie’s films it should be Halloween II (2009)/(H2). That was the dumbest horror film in the Halloween series. In the whole history it was Terrible. The remake I can live with it was an okay story.
The first part with young Michael Myers was awesome the. It was okay. Overall Leave Halloween 2007
alone for now and focus in on remaking that Terrible sequel Rob Zombie made. Thank god he’s not doing
Halloween 3D. Hollywood all of us movie goers are telling you what we want to see in horror films.
      Please listen to us.

The original carpenter film was without question the best.however I will say the remake part 1 was also very good.but rob’s part 2 sucked.i mean what was with the ghosts and damn horse! Then michael talked at the end…really!!!! Then he even dies which goes against the whole halloween premise which is michael is nothing more than evil…not a person…the evil consumed the person…and you can’t kill evil.

  • bryce hagman

i just hope they keep scout-taylor compton she was way better than jamie lee curtis and hotter to

    • fuck you

Haha Yeah right, Jamie Lee Curtis was a lot better than that annoying moaning bitch Scout-Taylor Compton. Rob Zombie ruined the Dr Loomis character, Donald Pleasence would be turning in his grave.

  • Chris

The original Halloween was the best in my eyes, Part 4 was good as well. John carpenter made Michael Myers.. so why destroy his masterpiece. Rob’s first Halloween wasn’t too bad, because we saw more of his childhood. Part 2 sucked ass royal, i was so disappointed in that garbage, he only made it so nobody would get credit for it. This he admitted himself. So if Halloween 3D comes out, go back to John’s idea of Michael.

  • Bailey Giannini

I’m not kidding about this. Someone in Hollywood needs to make up his or her mind about Halloween 3D. I know it takes a while to make a movie. But this long?
Come on. Don’t announce something unless it’s a for sure thing.
Get the script written get the cast and everything else.
    Start shooting. Then announce it.
I mean come on. I hope all this waiting pays off.
    Cause overall this is rediculus.
