It definitely isn’t easy to deliver a shaky cam horror movie that feels fresh anymore and a good deal of the footage in the new HANGMAN trailer looks like it could have come straight out of a Paranormal Activity film, but there’s still something insanely unnerving about someone standing in your bedroom while you’re fast asleep at night. The SXSW official selection centers on the Miller family. They manage to put things back together and move on with their lives after someone breaks into their home, but, it turns out, the initial break-in was only the start of their troubles.

The film’s official synopsis doesn’t specify it, but based on what we see in the trailer, it looks like the “Hangman” was probably busy setting up hidden cameras so he could stalk the Miller family after the break-in. You can check it out for yourself in the HANGMAN trailer below. Hopefully I’ll have a review of the film for you after it premieres at SXSW on Saturday, March 14th. HANGMAN stars Jeremy Sisto, Kate Ashfield, Ty Simpkins, Ryan Simpkins, Eric Michael Cole and Amy Smart.
