For those who care about the upcoming Smurfs movie (and I will never understand any of you), Entertainment Weekly has some new voice casting to report. First up, Hank Azaria, best known for voicing a large chunk of The Simpsons cast, will voice the villain Gargamel. Also, EW confirms an earlier report that singer Katy Perry will voice Smurfette. Finally, Glee‘s Jayma Mays will provide the voice for will play the pregnant wife to Neil Patrick Harris’ character.
The three will join George Lopez, Alan Cumming, and Jonathan Winters. The Smurfs is slated to hit theaters on July 29, 2011.

I thought this Piece of Shit was live action? Is Hank Azaria going to play the live action character or is this film going to commit some terrible nightmare atrocity with a live action CG Gargamel running around?

No CGI Gargamel. It will be Hank Azaria as the live-action version of Gargamel. So no worries.
