First Trailer for HANNIBAL Season 2

     January 19, 2014

The second course of Hannibal is due to be served in just over a month, and NBC has released the chilling first trailer for season two.  Things certainly look to be getting intense when the relationship between Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) picks back up, and I’m incredibly eager to see how the season progresses given the events of last season’s finale.  Fair warning, if you haven’t watched the first season of Hannibal there are more than a few major spoilers in this trailer.

Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.  Hannibal kicks off its second season on NBC February 28th.

  • Steven

The NBC people running the Hannibal Youtube channel are twats. They block everything.

  • kubo

Not available in my country? I might be living in Narnia!

  • Scratch89

Did they just spoil a huge scene with Morpheus?

    • ponpon

It’s confirmed it’ll be shown in episode one as a flash-forward, so we’ll be seeing it pretty much first thing anyway.

  • Osiris

They revealed a couple serious season two spoilers as well.

    • MEY

But more than half of the trailer is from season one. :)
      No problem. We’ll take it.
It was brilliant. It will be brilliant.

      • Osiris

        Yeah, I’m not worried

      • Ben Wigler

Amen. This show is more about the execution than the surprise, although I don’t think they’ll have any problem keeping the surprises coming. It’s just so beautifully done.

  • batmancontinues

Not avaiable in my country… why the heck still doing this

  • Marissa Evans

Well let’s face it: Those who know the original story can guess the ending anyway. So can’t complain about “spoilers.”
    Looking forward to this. :)

So, since Brian Fuller mentioned he’d like this show to last 7 seasons to tell the whole story, I’m guessing it will go something like this:
Season 1 ~ 3: Prequel to Red Dragon
    Season 4: Red Dragon
Season 5: Silence of the Lambs
    Season 6: Hannibal
Season 7: the end, tying everything together

    • The Flobbit

7 seasons? Please no. Please just no. End your show when you run out of great material – don’t stretch it out, no matter how hard your fans beg.

      • scheebles

Well that was his plan from the get-go with carefully plotted seasons 1-3. It’s not that much when you realize that each season is only 12 episodes. That’s like 3.5 seasons of a regular 24 episode drama. Not a lot when you think about it. Plus, that 7 episode plan was only if he could get the rights to Silence of the Lambs, which probably won’t happen.

      • The Flobbit

Not even Breaking Bad went for 7 seasons, and BB arguably had the best writing of any show, ever made. It’s still quite a lot, and while I’m happy to get more Hannibal, I just hope they keep their vision intact, and stop when they run out of awesome material.

      • Mark Tornits

yeah, considering they haven’t even got to the bulk of the material from the books yet, they still have a ton a material to work through- at least there is a plan with this – dexter’s only plan became about making more money for showtime.

      • The Flobbit

Exactly. TV shows should not be about money. They should be about telling awesome stories.

      • Bhammer100

For someone who actually has a plan in mind and knows where to take the characters, seven seasons is not that bad. Now, if Fuller didn’t have a plan in mind and just went into this series making it up as he went… that would be a different story. It seems like most things are better when there is an inevitable end.

  • Nick

Holy shit!. This looks amazing. Thank god we have this show as every other great show wraps up

  • Tom

I hope season 2 won’t be such a procedural as previous season.

    • MITIOR

It was only procedural at the beginning of the season mostly. I think the show has a good balance. It’s exciting that so many people are waiting for this!

      • Tom

No, you’re wrong. For example even in episode 11 there is a procedural thread. I don’t think that it’s a good balance, because the show has potential for real great story without unnecessary secondary thread.

  • Bhammer100

This is going to be Badass! I have a feeling when Justified ends, this will be my new number one favorite show airing on TV.
If this show goes on like this much longer, I’m going to have to ponder who I like more as Hannibal. Hopkins or Mikkelsen.

    • The Flobbit

Anthony Hopkins will eat your liver. He is still best.

      • Bhammer100

Mads Mikkelsen will take out your lungs while your still breathing and make it into something that looks delicious. He is a serious contender for the best.

      • The Flobbit

Just watch The Silence of the Lambs. While Mikkelsen is great, he will never rival the electrifying, spine-chilling, riveting madness that Hopkins brought to the screen.

Mikkelsen is second best, make no mistake.

      • Bhammer100

Oh, i”m not denying that Hopkins is amazing as Dr. Lector. There is a reason Hopkins won an award for his portrayal as Dr. Lector in SotL, and he was only on screen for what… 16 minuets!
But keep in mind that this series is not over yet. something may happen that would really shift opinions.

      • The Flobbit

Mads Mikkelsen is clearly extraordinary. But Hopkins’s Lecter is ripped right from the page, and is counted one of the greatest film characters of all time. I doubt anyone can ever surpass him. Mikkelsen is a close second, merely because Brian Cox and Gaspard Ulliel are so terrible.
