As promised, Fannibals: another delectable Hannibal morsel to help with the wait.  On the heels of several big pieces of casting news, the first Hannibal Season 3 trailer has arrived.  In it, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) is on the hunt for Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen), who we last saw fleeing the country with Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson).

We were told in the casting news yesterday that the third season would start with a time jump, and it appears that Will has potentially been in some non-Hannibal-led therapy since last season's final slaughter-fest.  Him calling out "I forgive you" (feels) could also be a way to restart their relationship (Heaven help him …).

The trailer also suggests an increasinh cinematic approach, both visually and narratively for the season.  Last year, the show made the right choice to move away from a crime procedural / case-of-the-week setup, and instead move into more multi-episode arcs.

Though the show has never done particularly well in the ratings, NBC has mercifully been patient with it, as the series remains a critical success and cult favorite (it also elevates NBC's general content to an artier place, and since the network is doing whatever it can do attract and keep viewers these days, holding on to Hannibal -- with its zeitgeist draw -- is a potentially a wise choice).

At the moment, not much more is known about where Season 3 will take Will and Hannibal, although according to book readers, it seems to be moving well into Red Dragon territory.  For now, enjoy (evil visual mastermind) showrunner Bryan Fuller's gothic overtones in this new trailer.

Hannibal will return to NBC this summer.
