With the holiday break thisclose, the folks at THR have dropped one more roundtable video interview to pass any idle time not spent doing last-minute gift shopping.  Luckily it’s a good one, as composers Hans Zimmer (Interstellar), Trent Reznor (Gone Girl), Danny Eflman (Big Eyes), John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon 2), and Marco Beltrami (The Homesman) got together to discuss their work on the various films up for awards consideration, as well as the world and process of film composition in general.  The 50-minute discussion covers a wide range of topics, from collaborating with directors to the controversial sound mix on Interstellar, and it’s a fascinating glimpse at the work that goes into putting together one of the most important aspects of any film.

Watch the roundtable discussion after the jump, and be sure to check out my list of the Top 10 scores of 2014.  If you’ve missed any of the previous roundtable discussions, check out the directorsactressesactorscinematographerswriters, and producers videos as well.
