Though it may feel like the world of Harry Potter is a thing of the past, with the final film based on (seemingly) the final novel having come out over four years ago, it remains alive and well. For one, there is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, with another to open at Universal Hollywood this coming spring. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the screenplay of which J.K. Rowling wrote, is currently in production and set for release just over a year from now, on November 18, 2016.  And Rowling continuously answers questions and makes updates to the universe she created, primarily through her website Pottermore.

It was there that Rowling shared news on another Harry Potter project in development: the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play is based based on an original story by Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. It was revealed last month that it will be in two parts, “due to the epic nature of the story.” Check out the reveal of the official artwork below:

Pretty interesting imagery. What’s with the birds? Or could they be the wings of Thestrals? And is that nest really big or that child really small? (Just kidding). We don’t know much in terms of  plot other than that Rowling has insisted that it is not a prequel. But whether it occurs while Harry is at Hogwarts or later in his life as an Auror is unknown. And given the magic involved, it could really take place anywhere at anytime (time-turner, anyone?).

The fact that this story is being told on stage is pretty interesting, and a respectably more subtle and exclusive approach for a brand that has a whole theme park devoted to it. That being said, once the play is over, hopefully all fans will be able to share in the experience at some point. If only there was a way to turn back time.
