When the announcement was made that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows would be adapted into two movies, everyone wondered where the split would be. By that time, most Potter fans had already read the seventh and final book of J.K. Rowling’s epic series and come to terms with the beloved characters on the page. But Warner Bros. still had plenty of work to do before they could retire the characters on the big screen, too.

You can find out where the split takes place, and check out some awesome new images from the film, after the jump.

According to EW, the first film “will end at about Chapter 24 of the book, with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows that allow the bearer to conquer death."  That means, going strictly by chapters, two thirds of the 759 page, 36+ chapter book will be in the first film. Part Two, then, will be heavy on action and resolution.

Thanks to RupertGrint.net for posting scans from the magazine.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I hits 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on November 19th; Part II follows on July 15, 2011.
