Harry Potter’s about to storm back into movie theaters in a big way later this year, even if “The Boy Who Lived” isn’t front and center in the story. David Yates’ adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them dives back into the magical world of Harry Potter when it opens November 18th, but the much-beloved author is getting a jump on things by revealing quite a bit of detail about the world’s Wizarding schools.
Most fans will recognize Hogwarts, a name that’s every bit as famous as Harry Potter himself. Almost as recognizable are the Wizarding houses of Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, which appeared in Rowling’s fourth book in the series, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, as well as the feature-film adaptation. What comes as news to us and readers everywhere is the existence of 11 total of these institutions (with some wiggle room for smaller schools and unregistered institutes that might exist off the radar), some of which Rowling talked about at length on Pottermore.
