While the Harry Potter book series came to a close almost eight years ago, author J.K. Rowling has had no issues with continuing to unveil more story bits from the iconic Wizarding World. Through the site Pottermore, she has regularly told readers more about the backstories of various characters, and she’s penning the screenplay for the upcoming film adaptation Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which tells a new story in the Potter universe, set in New York City 70 years before the events of Sorcerer’s Stone. But now it appears that she’s ready to continue the story of our titular hero, albeit not in novel or film form.

Rowling revealed in 2013 that she was developing a play that would cover Harry Potter’s “early years,” and today the author announced on Twitter that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will open in London next year, from writer Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. Despite Rowling’s previous comments, she disputed the fact that Cursed Child is a prequel while remaining coy:

The play will have its world premiere at London’s Palace Theater next summer, and tickets will go on sale this autumn. Now, who wants to take me to London?
