If you saw “District 9″, you might be surprised to learn Sharlto Copley (Wikus Van De Merwe) had never acted in a feature film before. While the film was great due to many reasons, Sharlto’s performance was definitely one of the highlights. So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Sharlto is in demand as an actor, and according to Blackfilm, Sharlto has been offered the role of Capt. H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock in 20th Century Fox’s “The A-Team”. More after the jump:
With production getting ready to go in Vancouver, Fox has to cast this part now. So the news that Sharlto has been offered the part sounds pretty solid. Also, Sharlto looks like Dwight Schultz (the original Murdock), so that’s also in his favor. If you haven’t heard, Liam Neeson is going to play Col. John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, Bradley Cooper is Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck and Rampage Jackson is playing B.A. Baracus.
The fact is…I really like this casting choice and I hope Sharlto decides to take the part. The main reason is he’d be part of a team and he wouldn’t have to carry the entire picture, just his part.

Mistake. I don’t care much about A Team – I like Cooper and Neeson, but I never liked the show and we don’t need more movies based on crappy tv shows. Copley is great and he deserves tons of work, but there are better projects out there I’m sure. I hate when a new talent is discovered and the first thing the studios do is throw him/her some crap project they are working on. Give Murdoch to Will Arnett.
