Hasbro unveiled some of the first new toys from Star Wars: The Force Awakens today, and the centerpiece was a brand new TIE fighter belonging to the First Order, the successor group to the Empire. At 26” this toy is rather large, and it comes with an “elite” pilot and blaster. This is part of “The Black Series,” which is Hasbro’s new line of Star Wars toys, and I’ll be curious to see just how much of The Force Awakens J.J. Abrams allows to be spoiled by toy reveals. But so far, this TIE fighter is a solid introduction, and it doesn’t really spoil anything at all. It actually makes the film that much more enticing, as we’re being given a sneak peek at this new “First Order” group. The colors are certainly striking, but I also like how it feels like a natural progression from the technology of the original trilogy.
It’s unclear when exactly this thing will be released, but a safe bet is on “Force Friday,” September 4th of this year. It'll run you $169. Check out some images below, via StarWars.com.
