First Teaser Trailer for HATCHET II

     August 19, 2010

Dark Sky Films has released the first teaser trailer Hatchet II, the sequel to writer/director Adam Green’s 2006 swamp-centric slasher film.  I’d estimate that roughly 85% of the 1:17 runtime is devoted to text, intercut with brief flashes of the terrible acts of Victor Crowley.  But sometimes with a scarer like this one, that’s all you need to rachet up the tension — particularly with unnerving quivering effect applied to the text.  Regardless, I’m sure that if you were a fan of Hatchet, the sequel is on your radar, in which case you should absolutely check out the trailer after the jump.

A brief synopsis:

After Marybeth escapes from the clutches of Victor Crowley, she learns the truth about his curse, and heads back into the haunted New Orleans swamp to seek revenge for her family.

Aside from Yahoo Video sucking the big one, I'm there for the actual film. I enjoyed Hatchet for what it was (which was certainly NOT the reinvention of the Slasher Film, but whatever) and with Tony Todd, Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder…. I'm totally in. The trailer leaves a lot to be desired, but glad the film is being made.

My god the unfathomable amount of bullshit said in this video is embarrassing, Hatchet was one of the most ridiculously bad movies I've ever seen.

Hatchet was good and I’m pumped for the second one. But I would NEVER say ir “resurrected and changed slasher genre.” It was a throw-back/homage slasher film. Ever since Scream came out in 1996, every slasher/horror movie “revived the genre.” The truth is the only horror movie to change the genre after Halloween was Scream, and since then there has been a bunch of wannabees, throw-backs (such as Hatchet & House of the Devil), and remakes.
