Variety reported onabigail-breslin-haunter Breslin’s addition to Haunter, written by Brian King and directed by Vincenzo Natali (Splice).  Per Variety’s report, Breslin’s character, Lisa, died of unusual circumstances alongside her family in 1986, after which they all became trapped in their home.  Haunter follows Lisa’s attempts to reach out to a young girl who is residing in the home to prevent her from suffering the same fate. Production is scheduled to begin in Toronto in mid-April. Breslin, who is currently filming Gavin Hood’s Ender’s Game, and had recently joined Brad Anderson’s The Hive with Halle Berry (Monster’s Ball), another recent addition.

Variety also reported on Lipinski’s role in Labor Day, in which he’ll be playing the younger version of Brolin’s character, Frank Chambers.  Lipinski will appear in flashbacks as Chambers returns home from the Vietnam War to marry his hometown sweetheart, only to realize that she’s not as wholesome as she used to be. The picture, an adaptation of author Joyce Maynard’s novel by the same name, is being financed through Indian Paintbrush and Paramount. Check out the book synopsis below (via Amazon):

With the end of summer closing in and a steamy Labor Day weekend looming in the town of Holton Mills, New Hampshire, lonely, friendless thirteen-year-old Henry spends most of his time watching television, reading, and daydreaming with only his emotionally fragile, long-divorced mother for company. But everything changes on the Thursday before the holiday weekend when a mysterious bleeding man named Frank asks Henry for a hand. Over the next five days, Henry will learn some of life’s most valuable lessons, about the breathless pain of jealousy, the power of betrayal, and the importance of putting those we care about above ourselves—and that real love is worth waiting for.

From acclaimed author Joyce Maynard comes a beautiful, poignant tale of love, sex, adolescence, and devastating treachery as seen through the eyes of a young teenager—and the man he later becomes.
