Notoriously unreliable UK tabloid The Sun [via digitalspy.com] reports that British actress Helen Mirren (The Queen, Gosford Park) is being courted by Quentin Tarantino to play a “foul-mouthed monarch” in the director’s “upcoming medieval movie.” In related news, Quentin Tarantino apparently has an upcoming medieval movie. From The Sun’s anonymous source:
“It will feature his trademarks – bloody violence and foul language. Helen has never worked with Tarantino and is interested. If the film goes into production it’s likely she will play a part.”
If this is real, I’m totally down for it because I’m down for anything Tarantino does; I was even down for Death Proof…that’s right, Death Proof. Moreover, we already have evidence of how tremendously well QT’s signature pulpy style can work against a historical backdrop. However, I have to warn you that this is probably BS. At best, it’s the faint whisper of a rumor. At worst, it’s The Sun making shit up again. This is the same paper that told us Eddie Murphy would be playing The Riddler in the next Batman movie. And that Shia LaBeouf would be playing Robin. So, you know…grain of salt and all that.
